The Simple 3-Step Self-Care Routine You Need Now

Don’t mistake this for another self-care blog post. Follow this simple 3-step plan to improve your well-being in a few days.

Self-care isn’t a new social media fad that’s been taking off it’s been around forever.

Advocating for self-care and the value it adds to your life is worth bragging about.

A simple self-care routine has changed my mental wellness and I bet it will impact yours.

As 2023 winds down these are my top 3 self-care go-tos that’ll follow me into 2024 and beyond.

Let’s not waste any more time, 2024 is around the corner.

The Name of the Game is Exercise

Exercise has been a long journey for me to embrace, make my own, and grow to love.

Solidifying a routine while listening to what my body needs took things to another level.

Moving your body is the ultimate goal. Plain and simple!

Don’t let Suzie from Insta tell you otherwise. Social media often exaggerates topics, making even simple actions seem overwhelming. Am I right?

Don’t have a gym membership? 💸

Can’t work out for an hour? ⏳

Social anxiety from big crowds? 😖

Convinced you can’t do it? 🥴

These self-sabotaging excuses are holding you back.

Let’s not bring that energy into 2024.

Instead — ⬇️

Make use of what’s around you. Try to walk and aim for 7–10k steps every day. If you can’t go outside, do YouTube exercise videos at home. You can also use your body weight or canned goods as weights.

I’ve talked myself out of working out completely when I couldn’t devote an hour to the gym. No more!

The action and discipline of showing up for yourself pays off every time. A 45-minute, 30-minute, or even a 15-minute workout is better than zero minutes.

The 5 o’clock rush of people is overrated! Nobody will disagree with that.

There’s no need to force yourself to be in an environment that doesn’t serve you. Make this time work for you.

Go for a hike/walk, be against the norm, and wake up super early to beat the crowd or go later on in the evening.

There is NOTHING that you can’t do. Exercise looks different for everyone Make it your own and stick with it.

Deep Rooted Faith in Prayer

For many years I held my faith outside the church with the notion;

“You ain’t gotta go to church to get to know yo God” — Jay Z

My mom passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2023. It shattered my life into pieces. Now, I’m slowly rebuilding from scratch.

I found an incredible Baptist grief support group. They understand what I’m going through.

After such a warm welcome, I felt a pull to attend Sunday service. The rest is history you can say. Without diving head first, I’m keeping my spiritual journey my own. As you should.

In my opinion, prayer can be like meditation, gratitude, or journaling.

It’s a moment to be mindful. Express gratitude. Ask for guidance.

If you’re not spiritual, that’s okay. Still, take time to consider other options that suit you.

Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.

In The Name of Silence

It’s hard to understand why so many people struggle to appreciate the peaceful feeling of silence.

It may not be for everyone, but it could be exactly what you need. Especially if you’re dealing with constant stress and daily chaos.

When you drive home, it’s often stressful and frustrating hoping your commute will be less than an hour.

Is this you? 😵 — Sensory overload with emails, phone calls, text messages, social media, notifications galore… Dare I go on?

Silence after the day-to-day battles you survive helps you collect thoughts and calm your nervous system.

And don’t think that sitting in your car for those extra 5–10 minutes doesn’t count. They do!

Make sure to add silence to your daily self-care list to decompress without time limits.

Your mind will thank you ten times over.

These top three self-care staples will carry into 2024 for me. They aren’t the norm you read about and that’s why they work!

Give it two weeks. Be consistent and intentional.

You won’t regret it.

2024here we come babyyyy🥂
